Just got a message from Dr. Rainer E. Lotz from Germany who told me about this CD:

English:
Jazz in Germany on 12 CDs. 100 years of jazz in Germany - the music of the 20th century. For the first time, the renowned research-author team of Horst H.J. Bergmeier and Dr. Rainer E. Lotz present a comprehensive history of jazz in Germany. Produced exclusively for Bear Family, it covers 12 CDs and includes countless rare original recordings, all of them meticulously and painstakingly restored. Starting with incredibly early recordings from 1899, the set follows with the development of cakewalk and ragtime, followed with classic recordings from the Weimar Republic of Golden Twenties. Swing and jazz continued under the swastika, and, after the War, in both German states. The set covers postwar jazz in all its forms: cool, traditional, and avant garde. This compilation showcases the finest recordings by the best and most interesting soloists and orchestras, as well as international stars on tour in Germany. And for the first time historical player piano and music box rolls are included in premium sound quality. The richly illustrated booklet for each CD box contains information on the music, artists and composers, as well as analysis of the social environment. Please, note: the text is in the German language.

There are some early recordings of ragtime and related music made in Germany some 100 years ago. Some of the tunes have audio samples, that one can listen to.

Best RAGArds!
